Dawn Crothers Art School - 1 Week Course
Monday 18th to 22nd July
TIME: 10am to 2pm
AGES 7 -9 Years
Monday – Day 1
We will be learning to draw from life, learning to use our eyes to draw what we see. Also basic drawing skills such as working with light and shadow. This is a great day to explore different drawing materials such as pencil, charcoal, oil pastels and chalks.
Tuesday – Day 2
Working with air-drying clay to create figures or coiling pots. This is a chance to make some three-dimensional artwork. An Art appreciation lesson on this day, studying the work of the great impressionist masters such as Vincent Van Gogh and Claude Monet.
Wednesday – Day 3
Having the previous days insight into some of our famous Artists, the students will be working on their favorite artist’s work and try and recreate one of their famous paintings. We will be working with a variety of mediums such as watercolor and Acrylic paints. Also working on a number of techniques to help the pupils build up their own skill set.
Thursday – Day 4
We will be researching and looking into the worlds endangered animals. We will be working together as a team to make some creative environmental sculptures!
Friday - Day 5
The final day the students will select what they loved the most about the week and work on a 'Final Piece' of work that really excites them!
Weather permitting we will be having a picnic out in the wonderful grounds of Lismachan Estate which is right beside the gallery studio!
Course Details
All the classes and workshops are held at Whalley Fine Art were the children will create high quality memorable art allowing them to develop fundamental skills in a fun and exciting way.
I have found over the last few years that by teaching the children to get back to the basics of drawing, painting and sculpting can really help them in becoming more confident and creative in their thinking in everyday life. Most of all I will make their experience fun and it is always a chance to meet new friends and paint with an established artist and experience a studio/gallery type environment! A great activity for the summer!
Dawn Crothers Pack
All students who come on the course will be given a special Dawn Crothers Art Pack containing various art supplies and a Sketch pad which they will use throughout the week!
All students who take part in the class will also receive a special Dawn Crothers Membership card which gives them discount off any of the Prints or products in our retail shop and also a certificate for taking part in the week!
Who Should Attend
The Summer 5 Day Course is split into two age groups 7 to 9 and 10 to 14. Ideal for anyone looking to gain a greater understanding of art as well as those wanting to build their confidence in drawing, painting and sculpting. This is a great experience for the children and is a great confidence booster!
This is a great opportunity for young people interested in art to meet new friends and create some amazing art!
